/ Notes

Ideas forming at the intersection of physical AI, scarce expertise, operational archives and national capability.

These are first-principles notes—not a content machine. Published with a date, an author and enough context to make the origin clear.

Why this exists

The things worth building usually begin as a question.

Archive Signal is being built in public, carefully. This corner is where we record the questions behind the work: what intelligent systems will need to learn, who already knows it, and what Canada should be doing before the infrastructure becomes someone else’s.

A Diskos for
the physical economy.

A proposal for Canada to keep the outcome-linked record of how its major projects are built. Capture once. Report once. Governance before collection.

Archival materials dissolving into a luminous data lattice01
Field note · October 2026

Canada is building sovereign AI on somebody else’s data.

Compute is rented. Data is destiny. The case for treating Canadian corpora, operational records and expert knowledge as strategic infrastructure.

A council table with one empty chair and a luminous data supply chain02
Field note · October 2026

Carney’s AI council is missing the data seat.

Thirteen members. A serious mandate. One conspicuous gap: nobody whose job is to find, clear and move the data the models are made of.

A physical infrastructure record becoming a structured data archive03
Field note · October 2026

Every megaproject should leave behind two assets.

Canada is about to build at a scale it hasn’t attempted in generations. It should keep the record of how the physical world gets built.

A note on provenance

Published ideas should show their work.

Each note will carry its publication date, author and source context. The point is not to claim ownership of a field. It is to make a clear record of when a particular question, framing or proposal was put forward here.
